The final destination of most oilfield products, the downhole is where the refined engineering systems used to build the subcomponents of the drill string are put to the test.
With several hundred tons of tensile forces, variable pressure spikes of 30,000+ psi, temperature peaks 200+ Fahrenheit, the oilfield products must hold up to assure sustained operation of the oil well.
Merlin's Downhole Drillstring Control provide the ability for final verification of the oilfield product as it is being lowered into the downhole. Ruggedized Automated data capture systems work to retrieve product identification and verify and validate the sequencing of drill string assembly against the pre-set design of the Oilfield Engineer. Integration into existing Drill String Design systems enables a seamless and transparent level of control that will assure incorrect or out of sequence components are not lowered into the borehole. The system provides feedback to the oil rig operators in the forms of visual, electronic, or audible alerts and system triggers, enabling them to assure the structural integrity of the drill string.
